Congressional Family Business Caucus Sets Meeting Schedule for 2024; First Meeting Scheduled for March 12 on Capitol Hill

Three Meetings Set for 2024 with First Focused on Workforce Issues Affecting Family Businesses; House Representatives will Hear from Workers on Behalf of Generationally-owned Family Businesses

The bipartisan Congressional Family Business Caucus has set its 2024 meeting schedule for 2024 with the first of three meetings set for March 12 on Capitol Hill, it was announced today.

The three meetings match the same number as last year, the first full year of the Congressional Family Business Caucus.

The four co-chairs of the bipartisan caucus are Jodey Arrington (R-TX), Rep. Brad Schneider (D-IL), Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-NY), and Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX). The bipartisan caucus, formed in late 2022, now has 38 members from the House of Representatives.

The mission of the caucus is to educate and raise awareness of America’s largest private employer, family businesses, which contribute $7.7 trillion annually to the U.S. gross domestic product and account for nearly 60% of all private workforce employees, or 83.3 million jobs.

The two additional Capitol Hill meetings are set for May 14 and September 18, 2024

The caucus meetings are organized with the help of Family Enterprise USA (FEUSA) and include presentations by caucus leaders, family business executives, employees, family office executives, and family center leaders. The discussions are centered around key issues facing family businesses.

The March 12 meeting will focus on workforce issues, according to Pat Soldano, President, Family Enterprise USA, which helps to organize the events. Family Enterprise USA is a non-profit, bipartisan organization advocating for family businesses across the country.

“We see this first caucus of the year as an important step in helping educate members of Congress on the many complex workplace issue facing generationally-owned family businesses,” said Soldano.

During the March 12 meeting, several family businesses will invite their employees to speak to caucus members. They will describe the advantages and barriers they face versus non-family enterprises. In addition, Soldano will present the most recent results from the Annual Family Business Survey 2024.

“This year continues the awareness building and education of members of Congress on the importance of family businesses to our economy,” said Soldano in announcing the 2024 schedule. “We’ve seen strong growth in the number of members joining the caucus, but we urge more members to get involved so they better understand the full scope and size of family businesses in this country, and the specific issues they face, from unfair taxation, burdensome regulations, and workforce training,” said Soldano.
