Affordability Strategies for Family-Owned Businesses Topic for March 17 Meeting with Members of Congressional Family Business Caucus

“Pricing & Profits: Affordability Strategies for Family-Owned Businesses” theme for First 2026 Meeting on Capitol Hill

The first of three meetings this year with members of the bipartisan Congressional Family Business Caucus will focus on pricing, profits, and affordability strategies by family-owned businesses.

The March 17 meeting inside the Capitol Building’s Visitor Center will feature presentations from family businesses, legislative and tax experts, and members of Congress.

The Capitol Hill meeting begins with formal introductions and presentations at 8:30AM and ends at 1PM. During this session attendees will also hear from and visit with House Members.

In the afternoon session, from 2PM to 4PM, attendees will meet with their House Members and staff in House Members’ offices.

Managing Pricing and Profits

The March 17 meeting kicks off with a panel of family business owners and a discussion led by Pat Soldano, President, Family Enterprise USA and Family Enterprise USA Action (formerly Policy and Taxation Group) and John Gugliada, Director of Engagement for both organizations. Family Enterprise USA and Family Enterprise USA Action are organizers of the meeting.

In the morning session, attendees will hear legislative and political updates by the law and government affairs firm Brownstein and a “What Now” presentation by communications expert and political analyst Dr. Frank Luntz. In that presentation, Luntz will discuss the changing political landscape and climate in Washington, D.C., and in the nation.

The morning session will also include a preview of Family Enterprise USA’s recent findings from its 2026 Annual Family-Owned Business Survey and will feature a presentation from sponsor, EY Americas Family Business and Family Office leaders.

In previous meetings, several House members spoke, attended, or greeted attendees.

In the past, House members included Reps. Chuck Fleischmann (R-TN), Carol Miller (R-WV), Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA), Stacey Plaskett (D-VI), Brad Schneider, (D-IL), Brad Sherman, (D-CA), Rep., and Pete Stauber (R-MN).

During the meeting family-owned business leaders will share strategies on how they are coping with a challenging economic marketplace, how they control pricing and margins, how management of their family businesses is affected, and how consumers are reacting to these strategies.

“The issue of affordability, both for businesses and customers, is a topic family-owned businesses are dealing with every day,” said Soldano about this year’s first meeting. “Managing pricing and profit margins are top of mind and family-owned business leaders will share strategies and how they’re controlling margins,” she said. “It’s important that Members of Congress understand the vital role family-owned businesses play in our country, and the importance of keeping these businesses growing and profitable.”
