Rep. Roger William’s dad started a car dealership in 1939 and when he died, the ownership of the business was passed along to him, and so was the death tax liability, which equaled a significant value of the business’ worth. Williams nearly declared bankruptcy but fortunately was able to pull the resources together to keep his father’s dealership afloat.
