House Majority Leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy (CA) along with Republican committee chairmen have sent a letter to all government agencies urging them not move ahead with any new regulations in the closing months of the Obama Administration. In the letter, McCarthy warned against acting with “undue haste” by enforcing “midnight-hour regulations” in the end of the current administration that would “harm consumers and businesses.”
This message from House leadership aligns with President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team’s message which promises “a temporary moratorium on all new regulation, canceling overarching executive orders and a thorough review to identify and eliminate unnecessary regulations that kill jobs and bloat government,” according to the official transition website.
This news certainly bodes well for Policy and Taxation Group’s opposition to newly proposed regulations under Section 2704. The House has also scheduled votes for this week aiming to block regulations being imposed at the end of the Obama Administration.
