On 1/8/19 Representative Jason Smith of Missouri introduced HR 218; Death Tax Repeal Act of the 116th Congress with 37 original co-sponsors including Representative Sanford Bishop (D) (GA).
Please note that it does NOT repeal the gift tax, and it leaves in place step up in basis, which will make the repeal very costly in terms of lost revenue.
Our fight is never over, not until we have a system where the wealthy are not unfairly subjugated to double taxation upon death.
This is a fight against the idea of wealth, against those who have worked so hard to provide jobs, to deliver a functioning economy and a vibrant United States. We can not let this stand.
